Breakfast sales remain constant over last four years

Research from Horizons shows that, while hotel occupancy and REVPAR has been volatile over the past five years and buying dinner in a hotel is a fickle discretionary spend; breakfast remains a stable revenue stream.

In 2001, for hotels with more than 10 bedrooms, 309 million breakfasts were served, producing just over 50% of food sales in hotels.

In 2005 UK hotels sold 302 million breakfasts producing just over 50% of food sales revenue. In the intervening years between 2001 and 2005 breakfast, as a percentage of total hotel food sales, only varied between 50.7% and 50.9%.
